celebrate / halloween

Happy Halloween!
I’m working both jobs today, but had a great time last Saturday at a couple parties and am looking forward to another Saturday night!

currently coveting

Since starting a second job, I have happily been able to have some fun money and I’ve been coveting pretty things for both my apartment and my closet.

{across from top left: west elm hourglasses for a pretty display / cb2 marta glasses to replace my chipped and cracked ones / west elm gold glassware for my bar-to-be / lands end striped tees to replace my old, stained ones / jcrew pixie pants-I already ordered these and am so excited to wear them!! /pbteen navy bordered sheets to refresh my bed / jcrew printed blouse / sally benedict painting that I LOVE / world market hexagon wine rack / jcrew blue shirt tail skirt}
Several of these are in my November budget and some are for maybe down the road. I’ll be sure to share!
What are you coveting lately?

wear / plante clothing

I am SO unbelievably PROUD of my dear friends Leah and Becky Plante for the launch of their very own clothing line called Plante Clothing. Their very first collection is available for pre-order and I suggest ya’ll get on that ASAP! My very favorite piece is the Protea Dress (photos by another dear friend, Ashley!):

Use discount code TAKE20 for 20% off!!
PS-Fun fact, Leah also made my graduation dress that I wore for both high school and college graduation!

weekend

Hehe this cracks me up for some stupid reason.
I am SO EXCITED to have an entire day off on Sunday. Between two jobs I’ve worked one or both jobs every day for 3 weeks and I’m so excited to have a day to do nothing.
I hope everyone has a relaxing weekend!! Any fun Halloween festivities? I am going to a couple parties tomorrow night as a 50’s girl in a poodle skirt!

decorate / new comforter

For the last six months, I’ve been sleeping under a hand me down, down comforter. It’s a generous hand me down and a very nice Laura Ashley comforter. But unfortunately it was a twin. Which was fine in the summer, but overall not the right size for my bed. And it also didn’t have a cover and I didn’t want to spend over $100 on a duvet cover in what was ultimately the wrong size. Plus, many of the duvet covers I loved were predominately white and knowing I was going to get white sheets soon and have white walls, I was looking for something to anchor the room a bit. Enter: the West Elm Cloud Comforter. I loved the navy with a touch of white and I loved that it was a comforter so it was machine wash AND I didn’t have to fuss with a duvet cover (I didn’t grow up with them and I think they’re a huge pain). I was hesitant to pull the trigger at $169 for the full/queen, but when it went on sale a few weeks ago, I just had to. (Thank goodness for the second job!)

And I love it. It’s a cozy and it’s big enough and I know I’ll have it for years to come.

wed / invitations

It’s Wedding Wednesday already! I saw these elegant midnight blue and gold invitations by 1440 on the always fabulous Style Me Pretty and I am IN. LOVE. Wouldn’t they be fabulous for a New Years Eve wedding?

Happy Hump Day! (PS-speaking of hump day, this camel sweater is adorable!)

eat / grilled cheese

A couple weeks ago Joanna from A Cup of Jo posted this recipe for “Grown Up Grilled Cheese”. I made it for my roommate and our friend last week and it was SO easy and SO good. My only tweak would be to cut the kale into smaller pieces so it’s easier to eat without the whole piece of kale sliding out. Enjoy!

celebrate / blog

Happy third birthday to this little blog of mine. There have been times I was MIA and times where I’ve been very on top of things, but it’s been a constant since my senior year of college and I can’t wait to see where things go from here. A huge thank you to everyone who supports me and follows along.

weekend

We have yet another gorgeous fall weekend ahead of us in Boston, just in time for the Head of the Charles Regatta. I sadly was out of town last year and had to miss not only the fun and the energy of the races, but seeing friends from college. In between working parts of both Saturday and Sunday, I’ll be out and about cheering on Boston University and my friend Tom who is coxing a club boat!
Have a great weekend!

three little spaces

Lately I’ve been drawn to these very cozy, calm and neutral spaces. It’s funny that I love color so much, but at home especially I’ve been gravitating to neutral colors with pops of bright instead of brights across the board.

Guest room for guests to pin where they’re from.

I’ve always wanted a window seat.

I love the rustic meets modern look of ghost chairs and a bare table.

copy cat chic

Copy Cat Chic: West Elm Patchwork Dresser

I got a shout out on Copy Cat Chic this morning!!! I came across a Target console that reminds me of a West Elm dresser and sent it in, not thinking much of it. And today I got a nice email that they were posting it!
I discovered Copy Cat Chic a couple months ago and love that they find affordable alternatives to designer home goods! Check it out :)

wed / corn hole

I love rehearsal dinners and weddings with outdoor games like bocce, croquet, corn hole, and horse shoes. It adds such a playful, relaxed vibe to the affair and I love the personalized touches people often bring to them. Take a look at this fun bride and groom corn hole set:

Happy Wedding Wednesday!

inspired / coiffure le bird

How cool is this series by Rene Mesman and Souverein? Entitled Coiffure le Bird, they put actual hair on live birds and posed them for portraits. Genius! This owl looks like quite the dandy…

Check out more here.

I heard a beautiful acoustic version of this song yesterday and really really loved it. It’s “Atlantic City” by Bruce Springsteen.

weekend

What. A. Week. I didn’t the government shutdown would affect me directly and oh boy did it ever. Several of our events had to be moved on very short notice and the office has been INSANE. Top that off with training for a new second job and I’m wiped out! I can’t wait to take advantage of all the downtime I can manage this weekend.

Have a good one!

wed / escort card stands

A bonus second post! I took a break to poke around and came across these awesome escort card stands from CB2.

Not too shabby at 12 for $20!

wed / rustic fall florals

Today is a clear, crisp 60 degrees in Boston and it has me loving fall florals. This autumn arrangement with the mini pomegranates and dahlias is just…sigh.

Happy Wedding Wednesday!

October 8, 2013

wear / technicolor floral

I went a little crazy the other day and pinned a ton of things from JCrew and Madewell. The things that stick out most are the top and dress in the Technicolor Floral:
