wed / boston public library

I have always had a pretty clear vision of the way I wanted my actual wedding to be, however that definitely doesn't stop me from having many more "wedding alter egos", as I like to call them. Whether it's a black tie New Years Eve wedding at the Plaza Hotel, a sunset beach ceremony, or a glamorous city wedding in Boston, I could easily plan 6 different weddings for myself.

In a new series of wedding alter egos, I wanted to highlight one the most classic, beautiful Boston venues: the Boston Public Library.

I would wear this dress:

Carry this bouquet for a fall evening:

And drive away in this car:

my family
my wonderful boyfriend
my friends near and far

the opportunity to go to bed safe and warm every night
and to all of you who read this little blog

wed / fall cake

I love naked cakes (mostly because the icing to cake ratio is ideal in my opinion) and this almost naked cake with fall floral touches is just perfect!!

wear / plaid scarf

In case you missed it, plaid scarves are EVERYWHERE. I've been wanting to add one to my closet after pinning this photo:

I've gathered a few possibilities and can't decide which one to get!! I also loved the darker one that I shared here. This is where my readers (are you out there?) come in. Which of the following do you think I should get?

travel / bristol, ri

This past weekend I took A away for a belated birthday weekend to Bristol, Rhode Island. A knew we were going away, but didn't know the destination until we had picked up the rental car. A friend of mine and her husband have a house there and were kind enough to let us go for the weekend. It was two cozy days of casual meals, a fire in the wood stove, a walk on the boardwalk and a few hours exploring little shops. It was EXACTLY what we needed.

Awesome blueberry pie at Aidan's Pub! Everything we had there was delicious and sitting by the fireplace was awesome. We also ate twice at Beehive Cafe and the food was so good that I didn't stop to take pictures.

A gorgeous early sunset on Sunday and we headed back to Boston (via Target of course).

travel / wanderlust

{source}

A and I have been lucky enough to do a good bit of traveling this year. First Providence and New York, then Las Vegas, Charleston and Toronto, and Charleston again. Plus I went to Florida to see my grandpa and A did a ton of traveling for interviews and to see his family.

Now that fall is turning into winter, I have a serious case of wanderlust mixed with the need to snuggle in and watch movies. Ever since Brandi and her hubby moved to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, I've been itching to go for a long weekend to cozy up in front of the fire, take long drives through beautiful scenery, and--if I was feeling adventurous--learn to ski!

Where are you itching to go next?

inspired / color combination

J. Crew just posted the first round of September Style Guide images on Pinterest and this color combination caught my eye:

The pale pink with citron and army green (and a hint of burgundy) is cool, perfect for early fall, and definitely unique. I’m reminded of Christian Siriano’s Spring 2012 ready-to-wear collection, specifically these two looks:

This fall I think I’ll be layering my citron sweater with some army green pants/jeans and finishing off the look with my blush patent wedges.
Any particular color combinations catching your eye lately?

celebrate / thanksgiving

This Thanksgiving I am thankful for…
…my family who is always loving, supportive, and available, even though they’re far away.
…my friends both near and far who are my moral compass, my family away from home, my confidants, my cheerleaders, my brothers and sisters.
…not one but two jobs that allow me to live a comfortable, full life.
…a beautiful apartment with a truly awesome roommate.
…all of my lovely blog followers who inspire me to keep going.
…the ability to appreciate my blessings, no matter how small.

wear / fall layers

While looking back at my Everyday Inspiration Pinterest board, I noticed I’ve pinned some layered looks that not only will be great for the cold weather over the next few months, but also use clothes I already have (with room for maybe one or two little additions).

I have pretty much this entire outfit. My plaid shirt has more black in it, so I think I would do plaid shirt, black sweater, camel blazer.

Love these layered neutrals.

My colored vest is orange, but I like the idea of layering it over my navy and white gingham button up.

Vest OVER the blazer? Love it! Adds warmth without restricting movement the way a blazer under a coat does.

I love the idea of white jeans in the winter but I’ve never had the guts to do it. Maybe this is the year.

What are your favorite layered looks?

weekend

How sweet is this fall engagement photo by Gina Brocker Photography? I love that it’s so cozy and loving and fall. I’m working both days this weekend and prepping to have some friends over on Monday. As usual, I’ve made social plans too: BU/BC hockey game tonight to celebrate a special birthday and seeing my cousin who is in town for work!
Happy weekend!

sip / fig bubbly

It’s is chilly and very fall-like outside and that calls for a fall drink. I can’t wait to try this fig bubbly soon!

Cheers!

weekend

We have yet another gorgeous fall weekend ahead of us in Boston, just in time for the Head of the Charles Regatta. I sadly was out of town last year and had to miss not only the fun and the energy of the races, but seeing friends from college. In between working parts of both Saturday and Sunday, I’ll be out and about cheering on Boston University and my friend Tom who is coxing a club boat!
Have a great weekend!

wed / rustic fall florals

Today is a clear, crisp 60 degrees in Boston and it has me loving fall florals. This autumn arrangement with the mini pomegranates and dahlias is just…sigh.

Happy Wedding Wednesday!
