wed / fall cake

I love naked cakes (mostly because the icing to cake ratio is ideal in my opinion) and this almost naked cake with fall floral touches is just perfect!!

inspired by / cobalt and chartreuse

I have admired Blair Eadie's style for years now and I love love love this color combo! I'm not usually gutsy enough for this much color on color, but I have a chartreuse sweater and cobalt flats which are perfect with black pants for work. I would also love to see a most neutral interior with punches of cobalt and citron or chartreuse. What color combinations inspire you lately?

weekend

So much warmth and texture going on in this bathroom. After having to take a cold shower yesterday morning (who knew my whole building takes a shower at 8:30 am?), this would be lovely!

My plaid scarf arrived and I already love it! (I chose Option 3.)

I'm going to Thanksgiving dinner at a friend of a friend's and plan to bring some green beans and maybe these hot cocoa cookies.

Pretty DIY fall/winter twig votives.

14 ways to update your home.

I recently added two of these H+M candlesticks to my bookshelves (1/2 off sale!). Speaking of bookshelves, did you catch my book wishlist?

For anyone cooking Thanksgiving, here's a handy Thanksgiving Calculator.

Ivanka Trump has a new #WomenWhoWork campaign. I'll be making a video this weekend!

wed / classic and glamorous southern wedding

While sorted through my flagged posts in Feedly the other day, I came across this amazing classic and glamorous wedding I saved from Snippet and Ink. I love everything about it, from the white dinner jackets on the guys to the mix and match bridesmaids to the lush white flowers. See more here.

read / coffee table books

Since I was a little girl, I've always loved big coffee table books. Whether it was looking through my mom's big Native Americans book or my dad's copy of A Day in the Life of America or repeatedly going to the library to check out Jacqueline Kennedy: The White House Years, I've always wanted to grow my own collection.

One of the goals on my 101 in 1001 list is to add 10 new coffee table books to my collection. I recently added Kate Spade New York's Places to Go, People to See and have four more to add. I have my eye on these pretties:

Elements of Style by Erin Gates
The Things That Matter by Nate Berkus (one of my favorite designers)
In Color by Tory Burch

What are your favorite "big books" to display?

weekend

Happy Friday!! It is very chilly here in Boston and I'm ready for another weekend snuggled up inside. I think I might make a batch of my trustiest short ribs.

Some fun things for your weekend...

Kate Spade made this adorable video of Anna Kendrick.

Have you ever cried at the gym? I admit to crying in yoga once and after reading this article, I wish I had truly let go.

I learned about the Bullet Journal and totally nerded out. I am really excited about upping my notebook game and being more organized.

After staring at yesterday's blog post, I pulled the trigger on this scarf using A Cup of Jo's code for 20% off (CUPOFJO2014).

We had an amazing time in Bristol, RI last weekend! Here's the post if you missed it.

wear / plaid scarf

In case you missed it, plaid scarves are EVERYWHERE. I've been wanting to add one to my closet after pinning this photo:

I've gathered a few possibilities and can't decide which one to get!! I also loved the darker one that I shared here. This is where my readers (are you out there?) come in. Which of the following do you think I should get?

travel / bristol, ri

This past weekend I took A away for a belated birthday weekend to Bristol, Rhode Island. A knew we were going away, but didn't know the destination until we had picked up the rental car. A friend of mine and her husband have a house there and were kind enough to let us go for the weekend. It was two cozy days of casual meals, a fire in the wood stove, a walk on the boardwalk and a few hours exploring little shops. It was EXACTLY what we needed.

Awesome blueberry pie at Aidan's Pub! Everything we had there was delicious and sitting by the fireplace was awesome. We also ate twice at Beehive Cafe and the food was so good that I didn't stop to take pictures.

A gorgeous early sunset on Sunday and we headed back to Boston (via Target of course).

Tips for a productive to do list. I really learned a lot from this one!

I made this chicken recipe again last weekend. Deeelish!

I'm taking A away for a post-birthday getaway this weekend and can't wait to reveal next week! I will surely be bringing this cozy blanket along.

What are you up to this weekend?

wed / ribbon placecard

Years before Pinterest, I organized my internet bookmarks by category (flowers, wedding cakes, dresses, etc). This image from Martha Stewart Weddings will always stick with me as one of my oldest favorites. Not only is the kelly green my favorite color, but the clean, fresh look is perfect for a spring or summer wedding.

From what I can tell, this could be a DIY with an X-acto knife in just a few hours. Try grosgrain ribbon for spring/summer weddings and satin or velvet for elegant or fall/winter affairs!

travel / wanderlust

{source}

A and I have been lucky enough to do a good bit of traveling this year. First Providence and New York, then Las Vegas, Charleston and Toronto, and Charleston again. Plus I went to Florida to see my grandpa and A did a ton of traveling for interviews and to see his family.

Now that fall is turning into winter, I have a serious case of wanderlust mixed with the need to snuggle in and watch movies. Ever since Brandi and her hubby moved to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, I've been itching to go for a long weekend to cozy up in front of the fire, take long drives through beautiful scenery, and--if I was feeling adventurous--learn to ski!

Where are you itching to go next?
