quote / connect the dots

Carly from thecollegeprepster posted this last week and it really resonated with me. I truly believe that everything happens for a reason and that fate and “meant to be” are something to have faith in.
Happy Monday!

weekend

Don’t these lovely ladies make you itch for a dressy masquerade party? Reminds me of my junior prom…
A few things I’m loving this week:
I did some Dine Out Boston eating over the past two weeks. My favorites were the brussel sprout caesar salad at Met Back Bay, the Elote Con Chili atZocalo (never had it? find a Mexican or tapas place STAT), and the Papardalle with Lamb Ragu at Clink.
I’m re-reading Ella Enchanted for the zillionth time. That book is one of my very favorites and I’ve been falling in love with Ella and Char all over again.
Sur la Table sent me a mini catalogue; who knew there were so many fruit specific tools?!
I’m newly addicted to Veep.
Am I the only one who loved diagramming sentences?
JCrew does it again with this fun color film.
And a few design tips from the masters.
Happy weekend-ing!!

three little spaces / light and calm

Not a lot to say today other than that I really am drawn to these orderly, calm, beautiful spaces.

wear / orange lipstick

As the weather starts to warm up (yes, I’m ignoring the pending snow in Boston), I become more and more drawn to bright, cheerful colors. Last year I bought Revlon lipstick in Orange Flip and LOVE it! This picture popped up in my Pinterest feed and reminded me it’s time to bust it out again soon.

What colors do you gravitate toward in warmer weather?

101 in 1001

It’s been a little while since I reported on the status of my 101 in 1001 list. Recently I’ve crossed off a few more:

13. Attended 5 yoga or Pilates classes at the gym instead of working out on my own.
14. Booked my flights to visit my grandpa in Florida!!!! Just in time for his 95th birthday :)
25. I tried another new food: bone marrow! At dinner at DBGB in New York, I had the chance to try marrow. I don’t know if I would eat it all the time, but I certainly understand why people love it so much!
76. I made my 2014 NYC trip! Read about it here.
Anyone else making progress on their lists?

weekend

I love how warm and welcoming the entrance to this home is! Very Southern :) This weekend will consist of girls night in tonight (complete with my friend’s pup!), bowling night tomorrow night, and hopefully a nice and lazy Sunday. Hope yours is a good one and you have some sunshine!
I need these things in my life, especially 25 and 27.
Life Rules from Jenna Lyons via A Piece of Toast and Porter.
I saw this flow chart and loved it!!! I also can’t believe that in the six years since I’ve lived at home, HALF of these restaurants are new.
The London Underground is seriously the BEST public transit I’ve ever been on and I thought these maps were fun.
Now the I broke myself the habit of only wearing stud earrings, I’m lusting over these and these.

decorate / mix and match pillows

I have a confession. I am pillow mismatching challenged. I love photos of mismatched or mix and match pillows, like these:

While I like to think that I have a good eye for decor, every time I try to put together a grouping for my own apartment I feel like it doesn’t look right. I think the only way to go about this is to buy one or two that I love and keep adding from there. Any advice?

wed / candle escort cards

It’s no secret that I LOVE candles for weddings and these calligraphy escort candles are beautiful. I can just imagine guests carrying lit candles to their tables and then having a flickering display of candlelight on each dinner table.

Another note: I doubt my ability to write that beautifully on the curved glass of the candles. You could even print the names on vellum paper (my font of choice would be Some Weatz) and wrap them around each candle.

travel / nyc

This past weekend I met the boy in NYC for a weekend of good food and friends. Friday night brought margaritas and girl time with my dear college roommate L.

Saturday morning L and I got up early and got coffee and cut through Central Park on our way to Levain Bakery on the Upper West Side, home of the BEST cookies EVER.

Then we met our boyfriends for delicious brunch at Kingswood in the West Village before doing a little window shopping.

Saturday night brought dinner at Daniel Boulud’s restaurant DBGB. A gave me his cookbook Daniel for my birthday and I was excited to try one of his restaurants. Boy did it not disappoint!! Then we met another college friend and her boyfriend for a drink and catch up.

And Sunday morning consisted of AMAZING bagels and coffee at Ess-a-Bagel before we headed to the bus home.
I clearly did mostly eating in NYC…I should probably start keeping a better log of my restaurant adventures in Boston…
Anyone been to any of these places in NYC?

weekend

I dare you not to smile at this.

I have lots of fun things to share this week!
Jimmy Fallon’s hilarious #misheardlyrics.
I recently bought the Massachusetts print from Paper Parasol Press and can’t wait to add South Carolina to my gallery wall.
Happy weekend! I’m off to NYC!!
