101 in 1001 3.0 / intro

The day has arrived! I am officially starting my third 101 in 1001 list. The first one doesn't seem to live on the internet anymore (maybe that's a good thing?) but you can find the second list here

I have to admit I jumped the gun by a few hours and watched the first of my 5 documentaries last night. If you are a lover of sparkly things (is anyone not?!), be sure to watch Crazy About Tiffany's on Hulu.

On a separate note, Happy Fourth everyone! A is working days, but I have a couple friends in town, a dinner with friends, and a cookout on Monday. Be safe and have fun!!

101 in 1001 2.0 / recap

Somehow my second 101 in 1001 list has come to an end. Officially my cutoff date was May 29, 2016, but June was crazy and now that I'm about ready to kick off my new list, I wanted to wrap up the last one! Some items I checked off in the final months...

36. Take a staycation and spend the night in a hotel. A and I spend the night at The Liberty hotel in Boston in May and it was soooo nice to just be away for the night. We watched tv, ordered breakfast in bed, and I took a long very bubbly bubble bath.

51. Nothing exciting to show, but I finally did a deep clean of the apartment myself. I straight up Googled cleaning tips and my biggest takeaway was to get thee some microfiber cloths. I got these from Amazon and they've been perfect not only for cleaning, but as dish towels!

64. Read 30 new books. Click here for some of my favorites

84. Write a new list. Coming soon!!

89. Plan a wedding. I help friends and family here and there and of course get to help clients at work. But now I'm working on ours!!

97. I learned a little Photoshop while working on our Save the Dates/Invites.

100. Take a creative class. My friend and I scored a Gilt City voucher for a floral arranging class. So fun!

Anyone else working on a 101 in 1001 list? Leave me the link the comments!

apartment / coffee tables

I've been in serious nesting mode and have a laundry list of things to do in the apartment. Currently our coffee table is a vintage trunk we love that we found at Pioneer Goods, but it's feeling a little heavy for the living room and I can see it re-purposed in our bedroom. So...I've been on the hunt for something a little airier, preferably with a bottom shelf.

{clockwise from top left: 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7}

I love the bottom West Elm one, but pricing might win out in favor of the Ikea find. Any favorites I'm missing?

weekend links

I miss Linda Wells's Allure magazine and loved this article about her day working at Sephora.
I've had some serious wanderlust lately and am dreaming about trips to Africa, India, and Singapore

These wedding gowns by Naeem Khan are truly works of art.
I'm SUPER late to the party but I am obsessed with Lip Sync Battles. Of course Channing Tatum/Beyonce was hilarious and amazing, but I'm loving Melissa McCarthy and Jimmy Fallon

Style Me Pretty predicts celebrity wedding gowns. Love!
Seriously tempted to splurge on these babies for upcoming weddings and events. I hear the best things about their shoes!
We're so excited to stay in our apartment one more year, but that means we seriously need to add storage in the kitchen. I'm planning on Ikea hacking some open shelving and bookmarked inspiration here, here, and here

wed / 5 pins from my secret rehearsal dinner board

{1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5}

We haven't started planning the details of our rehearsal dinner yet, but I was inspired by Alaina's blog post of 5 pins from her secret wedding inspiration board and wanted to share some rehearsal inspiration of my own. It's worth noting that A hasn't agreed to this color scheme yet, but the pinks and oranges are too happy not to share! What colors is everyone else into lately?

color / the mrs. box

I have lusted after The Mrs. Box ring boxes since they first launched, but the new lookbook takes it to the next level. It's 100 pages of gorgeousness! In looking at the creative minds behind it, I discovered Mae Mae Co and I've loved looking through her stunning branding portfolio

PS-I have my eye on the cobalt blue Brightstone box with a Highborn Block D on the front in gold.

wed / place settings

{1 / 2 / 3}

I've been on a ribbon kick lately and love the look of ribbon tied around each napkin/menu. It would be beautiful all times of year and in any setting. You can use rope for a nautical wedding, lace or twine for a rustic barn, or satin in a ballroom. If you pick up napkins from the rental company a couple days early and pre fold and tie in advance.

True story, folding menus into napkins was one of my favorite tasks when I was an intern one summer in Charleston. The repetitive task is actually relaxing...plus I could usually sit in the air conditioning for a bit instead of being outside in the 100 degree heat haha.

What table top trends are you into lately?

weekend

{source}

The secret collections of the Museum of Natural History. Fascinating!

Balanchine's Jewels is one of my very favorite ballets. I'm so envious of everyone in NYC who can see it now at the NYC Ballet!

I know I'm wayyy behind on this one, but I cannot get enough of watching lip sync battles. Melissa McCarthy's last song KILLED me.

I was so excited to see a shout out from Mackenzie on her 101 in 1001 update. Check out my list here. I only have 44 days to go and the race is on. Thanks for the love!

5 Items You Need in Your Closet from Liz. I'm thinking I need those flared jeans.

I picked up this guy from the Kate Spade Friends and Family sale last weekend. Can't wait for our trip to Toronto next weekend!!

We haven't started our registry yet, but I "need" this cheese board. Every time I go in Anthropologie, I have to visit it. (Tell me I'm not the only one!)

I've been pinning up a storm lately. Follow along with me this weekend.

inspired / gold leaf oyster shells

I have to admit I'm much better at pinning DIY projects than actually doing them. That said, I've been smitten with the idea of serving salt and pepper in oyster shells (bonus points if they're painted in a pretty metallic shade). So I recently swiped a few empty shells after drinks and oysters with a friend and have big plans for them.

Anyone other easy DIY projects I should attempt? I think I'll do my first batch in copper (my favorite) or silver (to match my mercury glass vases).

wed / southern wedding southern belle

Although I wasn't born south of the Mason-Dixon, I grew up there and a few quintessentially Southern things have definitely rubbed off on me (namely monogramming everything, a love of tradition, and of course adding "ya'll" to my day to day speech).

I absolutely adored "The Fabric of a Southern Belle" in V8 of Southern Weddings and I think it truly sums up the ideals and qualities of a Southern woman.

101 in 1001 / books to read

I'm so so so close to the end of my 101 in 1001 list and one goal I'm focusing on big time is reading 30 books. Here are some recent books that I really liked and recommend:

I have 5 more books to read before May 29th (when my list ends). I definitely want to read the sequel to Crazy Rich Asians, China Rich Girlfriend, but that leaves 4 more. Any suggestions for me?

wed / mountain top ceremony

It's been quite a week! Long story short, we thought we were going to have to move June 1, started the apartment hunt, and then ended up being able to stay (thank goodness). For now, I wanted to share this breathtaking ceremony setup. I love the view, I love the circle, and I love the clear chairs that almost disappear into the view.

weekend

Spring is here! The weekend is here!! Enjoy the sunshine if it's out where you are. :)

iPhone shooting tips from Man Repeller. My phone is my only camera and I need these!

I have been thinking about getting on the electric toothbrush train for awhile.
Has anyone else tried Quip?

Drugstore dupes for popular makeup. I need to print this out and keep it in my purse.

In case you missed it: I'm starting to think about wedding shoes!

How to choose the best colors for you blog.

I agree with this argument for putting off a honeymoon. We're thinking about doing a shorter domestic trip in the days after the wedding (maybe 5 days or so) and then making a bigger first anniversary trip.

The best wedding planners in the country. I had the pleasure of attending one of the weddings shown here and many of these images took my breath away!

I have literally worn giant holes in my Michael Kors Fulton flats and I desperately need to pick up some new ones this weekend.

Great toasting tips. Cheers!

wed / affordable charleston wedding venues

We are officially less than a year from our wedding and we're making awesome progress on the planning side! Venues, caterer, photographer, and hotel room blocks are all booked and we're close to booking florist and day of coordinator too. I am keeping our official plans under wraps, but I thought it would be fun to share some of the awesome wedding venues in Charleston, SC we considered.

First, Marion's in the French Quarter. The space is super neutral and can easily be decorated in all different ways. Located right downtown, Marion's is easily accessible for all your guests and definitely an affordable option. It's great that you can bring in your own catering as well.

Next up is the Charleston Yacht Club Flag Room which has beautiful views of the Ashley River. The space is also very simply decorated so you have a lot of flexibility to make the space your own. For a very reasonable rental, you can bring in your own caterer, stock the bar yourself, and utilize their included chairs and tables. If there was a little more space, this would have been perfect for us!

The Historic Rice Mill is actually right next to the Yacht Club and also faces the Ashley River. There is a beautiful patio facing the water where you can host a ceremony for up to 120 guests and the exposed brick interior is a stunning backdrop for dinner and dancing.
Catering and bar are provided in house, but when all is said and done, this was actually one of the most cost effective options we looked at.

What wedding venues in Charleston does everyone else love? We also inquired at the Carriage House at Magnolia Gardens and Alhambra Hall (best for Mt. Pleasant residents), but when we factored in shuttles from downtown for everyone, it didn't make sense.

I've done tons of research in the area, so let me know if anyone has questions!
