weekend

I just discovered Russell and Hazel has an awesome free printable wedding planning template. I find a lot of planning guides to be a little too basic for me or generally not useful, but I think this one it awesome and have already started using it myself!

21 Things you didn't know about Love Actually. One of my favorite movies! Perfect for a rainy day like today.

Have you tried out Violet to brand your wedding?

Speaking of branding, have you checked out my series about ways to brand your wedding? See part 1, part 2 and part 3!

Every style chart you could ever need.

I have been better about cooking at home lately and have my eye on these new recipes to try

I have a three day weekend and since it's storming outside, I have big plans for a little TV, home organizing, a DIY manicure and maybe some wedding plans of my own :). Happy weekend friends!

wear / pineapple earrings

{source}

My pineapple obsession is growing. I recently found and bought not one but two pineapple jars from TJMaxx (only $5 each!), bought this iPhone case for my new phone, and now I'm coveting over these pineapple earrings. Someone send for help!

WHEW! What a week!! I don't even know what just happened haha. I'm ready for a couple days of for sure. How was your week?

This adorable schnauzer is as close as A and I will get to having one, but I thought he would appreciate this cutie. Here are a few things for your reading pleasure...

weekend

Happy first day of spring! I've given myself a 3 day weekend which is perfectly cozy since it's still freezing outside.

A few things that caught my eye this week:

I was so excited to watch the new Aziz Ansari standup on Netflix and his bit about people being flaky is spot. on.

I desperately need new black flats for work. I can't decide on these, these, these, or something I haven't found yet. Any suggestions?

This private estate wedding was beautiful, but even more beautiful was the story behind the setting.

My dad lived in New York City for a long time and always loves to point out very unrealistic apartments (compared to their inhabitants) in TV and movies. Here's how much they would actually cost.

wear / travel to st. croix

If you follow on Instagram, you may have seen that A and I booked a trip for April to St. Croix! I've never been to the Caribbean or Mexico and I am SO EXCITED!!!! Not only will it be amazing to get away from the Boston winter (because let's be honest...it will still be winter), but it will be great to take a vacation together with nothing to do and nowhere to go.

Now that the trip is officially booked, I am itching to shop. I already have plenty of shorts, shirts, and dresses, but I could use a couple things that I might treat myself to...

Clockwise from top left:
-A cute gauzy coverup to keep the sun off me
-A new black bikini since my old one fell apart (I just buy the same one from Old Navy over and over and love it)
-A turquoise necklace has been on my wishlist forever and will look perfect over my black maxi dress. This one is sold out, but I'm hoping they restock!
-White skinny jeans for dinner (cute with a striped top)
-Gauzy beach pants on sale from JCrew. They're the most ridiculous thing on this list, but I love them for some reason.
-New Rainbows because mine are legitimately falling apart.
-A straw hat to keep the sun off me because I'm pale...and also baseball hats don't shade as well. Mom, you should be proud!

What do you think? Is anything missing? Am I being too over the top? Suggestions are welcome!

weekend

If you live in the Northeast, you're probably in the same boat as me: sick and tired of the snow! A and I are planning a Carribbean/Mexico trip for April and I am overwhelmed with the options and logistics. I've never been to that part of the world and I have no idea where to start. I am however getting very good at looking at the pictures. The photo above is Ladera Resort in St Lucia. It's a bit out of reach, but that doesn't stop me from daydreaming!

I haven't shopped at LOFT in awhile for some reason, but I'm digging their recent arrivals. Particularly this, this and this

Any favorite or suggested resorts for me?

wear / ivory cable sweater

I have been coveting this cable knit sweater from LL Bean for months and I think it's time I bit the bullet. I've always loved ivory fisherman sweaters and have one special one that my great-grandma knit for my dad that shrunk in the wash and now fits me. That one is very special of course so I would love a sweater that is a bit less precious. Plus I need something to keep me warm in all this snow!

wear / outfit inspiration

I pinned this image forever ago and haven't had an occasion to replicate it. However, I have a copper belt that my grandmother passed down to me that I almost never wear and I think it would be cool for the Brooklyn bridal shower I'm going to on Saturday. I can't wait to see my besties from high school and celebrate L+B's upcoming wedding!

Happy weekend!

Also: There aren't many of these awesome Nikes left from J Crew, but at $36 on sale, they're worth calling a store to track down in your size (they can check stores across the country for you!). I went a half size up and bought the mustard/aqua.

Happy weekend!!! Stay warm everyone.

I have a full day of wedding meetings at work on Saturday and fun dinner plans at Alden and Harlow on Sunday.

weekend

So much warmth and texture going on in this bathroom. After having to take a cold shower yesterday morning (who knew my whole building takes a shower at 8:30 am?), this would be lovely!

My plaid scarf arrived and I already love it! (I chose Option 3.)

I'm going to Thanksgiving dinner at a friend of a friend's and plan to bring some green beans and maybe these hot cocoa cookies.

wear / plaid scarf

In case you missed it, plaid scarves are EVERYWHERE. I've been wanting to add one to my closet after pinning this photo:

I've gathered a few possibilities and can't decide which one to get!! I also loved the darker one that I shared here. This is where my readers (are you out there?) come in. Which of the following do you think I should get?

October 30, 2014

wear / southern belle

While I was in Charleston, I of course stopped into the C Wonder store since there isn't one in Boston and spotted these flats. I knew they were a necessary wardrobe addition, but I was hoping to wait for a sale or promo. I happened to take a look online a few days later and saw they were sold out so I quickly made a call to the Charleston store and they are on their way to me! If "Southern Belle" doesn't describe you, be sure to check out the "City Girl" pair

The incredible Deb Perelman of Smitten Kitchen posted these on Instagram last night and all I could say was SHANA TOVA! (that's Happy New Year in Hebrew) Shana tova to everyone celebrating! May you have a sweet, happy, and healthy new year.

September 25, 2014

wear / black handbag

This weekend, while shopping with A's mom, I caved and bought a pretty new bag. I've been wanting/needing a black bag for awhile. I spotted this Vince Camuto Kylie Bag at Saks Off Fifth and it just had to come home with me (after I looked at 40 other bags in a bunch of other stores, of course). The best part of my shiny new bag is that the size limits me from schlepping around too much stuff!
Do you have any go to bags that I should know about?

September 19, 2014

weekend

Happy Friday! A's parents are in town and he and his dad are riding a 50 mile charity bike ride. I will be cheering them on :).

And now for a few things I rounded up this week:

How beautiful is the fall ensemble above?

How to leave work at the office. Oh boy did I need that...I have trouble leaving behind all the things that are stressing me out or bothering me.

This Buzzfeed article entitled "Times Elle Woods Empowered you as a Woman" cracked me up, but I also found it kind of true.

I am ready for some fall nail polish

It would be lovely if some new flats landed on my doorstep. I love these, these, and these

My recent favorite beverage: David's Tea tea pops: basically a tea/seltzer hybrid.

I've been wanting to make these metallic painted oyster shells since I posted this Etsy shop

And lastly...I hope you like my new site! Be sure to follow along on Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, Tumblr, and Facebook.

inspired / color combination

J. Crew just posted the first round of September Style Guide images on Pinterest and this color combination caught my eye:

The pale pink with citron and army green (and a hint of burgundy) is cool, perfect for early fall, and definitely unique. I’m reminded of Christian Siriano’s Spring 2012 ready-to-wear collection, specifically these two looks:

This fall I think I’ll be layering my citron sweater with some army green pants/jeans and finishing off the look with my blush patent wedges.
Any particular color combinations catching your eye lately?

July 24, 2014

wear / jcrew pima tee

Please forgive me for the huge silence over here. It has been a very challenging month at work and I’m doing my best just to hang on with work and taking care of myself so I don’t get run down. I’m hoping to be back to regular posting next week!

In the meantime, I wanted to share a t-shirt that has become a recent obsession of mine. My wardrobe is largely built on solid basics with some special pieces mixed in for interest. I found this pocket tee at JCrew on the sale rack almost a month ago and it’s on sale online with extra 40% off! I bought it grey and it was so soft and comfy that I went back for the black one.

I love dressing it up or down and the high-low hemline plus lower neckline makes it perfect. If you don’t see your size or color online, don’t forget to call a store to see if they can hunt one down for you! It runs true to size with a loose/boxy fit.
