diy / painted pots
Hi everyone!
As part of my February nesting goals, I joined in on a Pinterest Challenge with Sherry from Young House Love and in an effort to add a little life to my apartment, I used this pin from awhile back as inspiration:
{Pin}
And painted my own terra cotta pot. My method was so simple…I just free hand painted a pot from Home Depot with acrylic paint (you could certainly use painter’s tape to create a straight line to follow) and transplanted succulents in once the paint dried!
More February projects tomorrow!

wear / fall neutrals
{source}
While I am a huge fan of color as a general rule, I’ve been loving cozy neutrals like this lately. Perfect examples include me purchasing these at Uniqlo last weekend in NYC:
{Uniqlo / I bought it in black but want the grey too!}
{Uniqlo / I got this ivory color and dark grey}
And today I’m wearing camel pants and a white button down. What about everyone else? Color or neutrals?

listen / ellie goulding
Oh my goodness, I CAN’T STOP listening to “Anything Could Happen” by Ellie Goulding. I love how upbeat it is. I’ve literally listened to this 6 or 7 times today at work.

travel / shopping in nyc
If you follow me on Instagram (@awinkasmile), then you may have seen my pictures from my trip to NYC last weekend. I did some shopping at two of my favorites, Joe Fresh and Uniqlo, and Joe Fresh in particular had lots of happy color for spring and it really made me excited for spring!
The colors were a bit more vibrant in person.
I wanted all of these button downs and flats!!!
I also peeked in Zara and spotted this beautiful beaded skirt:
What’s inspiring you recently?

decorate / my apartment bookshelf
I’ve been on a book buying spree (especially coffee table books) over the last couple months and I’m in the process of styling this bookshelf. I currently have some shelves in my bedroom with most of my novels but my bigger books and Martha Stewart Weddings magazines have been shelved in the living room. (Side note: I need to paint this bookshelf. Maybe white with robin’s egg blue in the back?) Without further ado, I would like to share my recent book additions top to bottom:
- In the Kitchen with a Good Appetite by Melissa Clark
- Style Me Pretty Weddings by Abby Larson
- Handmade Weddings by Moyle, Moyle, and Faust
- My Life in Paris by Julia Child
- Sips and Apps by Kathy Casey
- Recipes for Parties by Parker and Leva
- The Daring Book for Girls by Buchanan and Peskowitz
- Things We Love by kate spade new york
What coffee table books (or any books) do you recommend?
