Tonight I’m so excited to attend the #bostonbloggers event at Highball Lounge. Highball is located at the Nine Zero Hotel on Tremont Street and the vintage vibe is so fun and there are even board games! I can’t wait to drink a #duckierosé :)
Bon Appetit magazine is one of my favorites and I’ve been following their editor-in-chief, Adam Rapoport on Instagram for a little while now. A couple of weeks ago he posted these chocolate coconut macaroons along with the simplest sounding recipe.
I realized that this Passover I might not need to buy the dry, packaged macaroons if I could make these successfully. Luckily, they’re just as easy as the recipe sounds! I drizzled a little caramel on top and I’m NEVER going back. These would be good even not on Passover. #winning
Here’s the recipe:
Melt 3 oz semi sweet chocolate. Beat 3 egg whites. Fold in 8 oz slivered almonds ground up in a food processor and 3/4 cup sugar. Then fold in melted chocolate and 7 oz bag of sweetened shredded coconut. Spoon on to baking sheet covered with parchment, bake about 20 mins at 350.
I am a fan of the ease of having a wedding website. Want to share your love story for all to see? Website. Communicate registry info in a subtle way? Website. Guest needs directions? Website.
Sadly, not all wedding websites are created equal, especially in the looks department. Luckily, Riley and Grey has hit the scene! With site templates that look like this…
…seamless mobile sites, and a price that can’t be beat, I can’t imagine going anywhere else!
I created an account to play with and it’s super easy to use on the back end too!
This is not a sponsored post. I just wanted to share a company I admired!
I posted this on Instagram today, but wanted to share here too:
As my beloved adopted city hosts the 118th Boston Marathon, Vice President Joe Biden’s words ring in my ears. Amid sadness and remembrance, it’s an amazing feeling to see Boston excited and ready to cheer on the runners. #bostonstrong
What a doozy of a week!!! Especially after a trip to Florida last weekend to see my grandpa, I feel like I haven’t really been home in weeks and I’m looking forward to some down time to clean up a bit, watch some tv and sleep in!
Here are a few fun things that caught my eye recently…
The Boston Marathon is on Monday and this video made me cry big time. I can’t believe it’s been a whole year. Even though I have to work and can’t cheer on the runners this year, I feel like this video captures the spirit well.
I have no idea how I haven’t been reading Bright Bazaar, but I’m a big fan and can’t wait to see his new book!
I’ve pinned so many beautiful wedding images lately that I decided to share them all at once in brain dump form. I noticed a theme of traditional elegance with some rustic and natural touches.
I unsubscribed from a bunch of deal and flash sale sites a few months ago, but still enjoy logging in once a week or so to poke around and see what’s there. Today on One Kings Lane I happened upon this cobalt sofa…
…and it’s gorgeous. It just needs a cool crystal chandelier and some amazing photography hung above it. That is all.
One of the items on my 101 in 1001 list is to invest in good sunscreen that I actually want to wear. I am really good at applying sunscreen when I’m at the pool or beach, but rely on the SPF 15 in my makeup day to day, which I know isn’t enough for an afternoon walking around in the sunshine. The worst is I often wear v-neck tees and after a day outside I notice a faint sunburn on my chest. While it fades overnight, I know that the cumulative damage is really really bad.
Last year, I received a sample for Coola sunscreen in my Birchbox. Coola is made with 97% organic ingredients, but even better than that, I loved the light feel of the sunscreen—it feels more like a serum.
The fact that it feels like a fancy face cream instead of greasy, strong smelling sunscreen is a big selling point for me. The sunscreen also has antioxidants, which fight free radicals from harming your skin, so it’s two products in one! I justified the $32 price tag by rationalizing that face cream would be about $20 and sunscreen would be another $10.
I used the locator on Coola’s website and found Bella Sante in Boston carries it (though they’re phasing it out due to a shift in the types of products they carry). I stopped in yesterday and ended up getting two 5 oz bottles of the SPF 45 sport version for 60% off! The sport sunscreen isn’t as light feeling as the SPF 30, but for that price I couldn’t beat it!
What does everyone else use for SPF? I’m so curious!
;) and :)
PS-This is not a sponsored post; I just wanted to share a product that I really love!
Today I wanted to share a few pretty beauty looks for the perfect blushing bride. Personally, I love bright lips, smokey eyes, colorful nail polish, but to me nothing says bridal like letting your natural beauty shine through.
Baseball season is back and as much as I can get frustrated at the crowds and traffic around a Red Sox game, there really is nothing like attending a game at Fenway Park.
My sweet boyfriend got us tickets for tonight since we’ve both had a tough couple of weeks at work and I’m so excited for a hot dog, beer, and baseball. Maybe spring really is coming…
Has anyone else seen The Grand Budapest Hotel? Not only did I love the story and the humor, but like most Wes Anderson movies (so I hear…I don’t think I’ve seen any others) it was beautiful! I left the theater (the Coolidge Corner Theater is so cool!) feeling inspired. The sets and costumes and props were stunning!
Lately I have been really drawn to natural garlands used as decor. Whether they’re draped down the center of a long table or used to mark the bride’s and groom’s chairs, they’re definitely a winner in my book! Take a look at some of my favorites:
Hi! I'm Ellie. Event and Wedding Planner. I love weddings, the beach, good food, bad tv, laughing, dancing, fireworks, swings, + chocolate. I like lists. My favorite flowers are tulips, but it changes sometimes. A perfect Sunday morning is spent snuggling in bed with a cup of coffee. Boston is my adopted city, but there is no place like my hometown of Charleston, SC.
