Royal Wedding Redux: Fashion Police Part 2

I cannot believe I’m done with college classes FOREVER. It hasn’t sunk in at all. My best friend and I decided it won’t hit us until the fall when we don’t come back.

Anyway, it’s time for my worst dressed of the royal wedding.

Of course, there are the Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie. What. Happened. There!?

{source}

As I have respect for Philip Treacy’s hat designs (though I don’t agree with these two) I won’t go after the hats. HOWEVER, the dresses aren’t much better. I think an outfit with a slightly brighter color would have suited Princess Beatrice better. The mauve-y color washes her out a bit. And everything is wrong about Eugenie’s outfit from the square neckline, puffed shoulders, the bows cutting across her torso, the bubble hem and the busy print. Nothing about that outfit is flattering her shape. It’s a shame because they’re both pretty girls and should have shown that off instead of hiding it.

Now that I think about it the only other horribly dressed person I can think of are the one or two women who showed up wearing a white suit! Unless the invitation specifies that guest should wear white, guests should NEVER wear white. Faux pas to the max at the wedding of one of the classiest brides of all time.

With a wink and a smile,

Ellie

Royal Wedding Redux: William and Catherine’s Prayer

Thursdays are usually for quotes, readings, and vows and I was so excited to hear the prayer William and Catherine wrote themselves!

God our Father, we thank you for our families; for the love that we share and for the joy of our marriage.

In the busyness of each day keep our eyes fixed on what is real and important in life and help us to be generous with our time and love and energy.

Strengthened by our union help us to serve and comfort those who suffer. We ask this in the Spirit of Jesus Christ. Amen.

I also just re-read the sermon from the wedding and noticed that the day of the wedding was St. Catherine’s festival day. How fitting!

With a wink and a smile,

Ellie

Royal Wedding Redux: Fashion Police

Send good vibes my way for my interview today!!!

Here’s my opinions on best and worst dressed from the royal wedding. First the Best Dressed:

{source}

LOVE LOVE LOVED Pippa’s gown. The fit is flawless and she manages to shine on her own without taking away from her sister. I also think this will strengthen the white bridesmaids trend that I blogged about here.

{source}

Carol Middleton (Kate and Pippa’s mom) looked very pretty in pale blue. Again, the fit was what really made the look for me. Her hat was pretty too.

{source}

For someone who is pregnant, Victoria Beckham looked amazing! I love the dress on her and I can’t fathom how she walks in those shoes. The hat is cool, but I’m not head over heels.

Speaking of hats…

{source}

Camilla’s was SCARY similar to a hat I fell in love with at Harrod’s when I studied abroad in London. Make the swoop less dramatic and the hat ice blue and you’ve got a £2,880 hat I wanted as my own. I liked her suit as well, but I think it would have been more flattering if the waist detail was at her natural waist.

I think I’ll save the Worst Dressed for tomorrow.

With a wink and a smile,

Ellie

Royal Wedding Redux: Flowers and Trees

Sorry this didn’t post earlier!! I messed up the queue of my blog posts.

{source}

Up close, I love Kate’s bouquet, especially the significance of all the different flowers that are in it. However, the back of the bouquet looked really odd on TV and so did the handle. I would have liked a bigger, fuller bouquet with more impact.

As for the trees in Westminster Abbey, I love it!!!!

{source}

I love that the trees brought down the height of the ceilings and added something to the space without competing. I also really like that the trees are being planted all over the UK.

Fingers crossed for my interview tomorrow!!

Royal Wedding Redux: The Dresses

Good Monday morning everyone!

I’ve decided to dedicate this week to the royal wedding and all my thoughts and opinions. First of course, is Catherine’s dresses. I was confident that Catherine would wear more than one dress, especially since her ceremony dress was likely to be huge and not easy to manage for eating and dancing.

First the ceremony dress:

{source}

While it is gorgeous and she is STUNNING beyond belief, I was disappointed. I’ve come to realize that I think I expected something new and different. I would have liked to see Catherine in a gown with a wide boatneck instead of the plunge and with more veil, less train, and a fuller skirt. Something along these lines but with sleeves and a fuller skirt:

And the second dress is fantastic:

Love the full skirt, love the cardigan, LOVE the beaded belt! In no way, shape, or form do I think this would have worked for the ceremony, but WOW it’s perfect for a party!

What did you think? Leave comments in my ask box :)

With a wink and a smile,

Ellie
