If you follow me on Instagram (awinkasmile), then you may have seen my pictures from my trip to NYC last weekend. I did some shopping at two of my favorites, Joe Fresh and Uniqlo, and Joe Fresh in particular had lots of happy color for spring and it really made me excited for spring!

The colors were a bit more vibrant in person.

I wanted all of these button downs and flats!!!
I also peeked in Zara and spotted this beautiful beaded skirt:

What’s inspiring you recently?

I’m drooling over this color scheme!! I am seriously considering buying the entire thing. Too far? What’s brightening your day today?

Send good vibes my way for my interview today!!!
Here’s my opinions on best and worst dressed from the royal wedding. First the Best Dressed:

LOVE LOVE LOVED Pippa’s gown. The fit is flawless and she manages to shine on her own without taking away from her sister. I also think this will strengthen the white bridesmaids trend that I blogged about here.

Carol Middleton (Kate and Pippa’s mom) looked very pretty in pale blue. Again, the fit was what really made the look for me. Her hat was pretty too.

For someone who is pregnant, Victoria Beckham looked amazing! I love the dress on her and I can’t fathom how she walks in those shoes. The hat is cool, but I’m not head over heels.
Speaking of hats…

Camilla’s was SCARY similar to a hat I fell in love with at Harrod’s when I studied abroad in London. Make the swoop less dramatic and the hat ice blue and you’ve got a £2,880 hat I wanted as my own. I liked her suit as well, but I think it would have been more flattering if the waist detail was at her natural waist.
I think I’ll save the Worst Dressed for tomorrow.

We all know what the bride wears (not that it’s easy to find the perfect white dress) and what the rest of the wedding party wears, but what about the guests? Maybe you spread your wedding’s dress code through word of mouth, on your website or even on the reception card of the invitation. Here’s a quick guide to what different dress codes mean:
White Tie or Ultra Formal:
Black Tie:
Black Tie Optional:
Cocktail/Semi-Formal:
Festive/Party:
Beach Casual:
Informal/Casual:
Hope this clears up the confusion! If you’re unsure, ask the bride or groom. Another clue is the invitation. Is it heavy paper, all black and white in a script font? Then it’s probably a pretty formal event. If the invite has a more casual feel, then you’re probably safe with a sundress during the day or cocktail dress at night.

I think it’s too cute to have the bride wearing the men’s hat and her new husband’s tux jacket!

Today I’m loving groomsmen in Nantucket red pants. I think the color is great and I like how the look is casual but adorably preppy.

I LOVE CARDIGANS! It’s true. I think it’s because I always had to cover my shoulders to go to synagogue growing up. Now I wear them for work and for play. I love that they go with dresses, skirts, jeans, dress pants, pencil skirts, and the list goes on. Why not wear one over a wedding dress? It’s becoming a somewhat popular trend, especially after this picture hit the blogosphere:

I think this look could work with just about any cardigan, but I must say I’m partial to the Jackie cardigan from JCrew.
I have Jackie in white, breeze (above) and an apricot color. I am always on the lookout for another one on sale because I’m a broke college student like that. You could also look for a white or ivory sweater with embellishment to make it extra-special.

What do you think? Are you planning on wearing anything over your dress?
