Color Palette 1
It’s been in the works for awhile (I’ve been trying to decide how to present it), but I’m finally writing my first color palette post. I have a feeling the presentation will change, but this will do for now. I am loving this combination of fall colors. Somehow it’s inspired by my friend A. In high school she was big on these colors, along with olive green and navy. Without...

Quotes, Readings and Vows: "Blessing for a...
If ever I had to give a toast at a wedding and couldn’t come up with one, this is the one I would give.
“May your marriage bring you all the exquisite excitements a marriage should bring, and may life grant you also patience, tolerance, and understanding.
May you always need one another - not so much to fill your emptiness as to help you to know your fullness. A mountain needs a...

How To: Find a Dress, Part 5
Last in the dress series is veils. Obviously not part of a dress, but important nonetheless. Many brides are opting out of veils in favor of headbands, clips, fascinators, real flowers, birdcage veils, and the list goes on. But for those that want a veil, the choices and jargon can be daunting. Last week Miss Sloth of Weddingbee posted this handy little chart:

How To: Find a Dress, Part 4
And I’m back for Part 4! Today I’m covering shades of white. To me, this is the hardest part of dresses. Ivory vs White, Diamond White vs Stark White…it’s all so confusing!! AND how are you supposed to know what looks good on you?! So without further ado, here’s a guide to shades of white I borrowed from the website.
Stark White: This is the brightest white out...

How To: Find a Dress, Part 3
Today we’re talking trains and bustles. First, an overview of the types of trains.

1. BRUSH TRAIN: A brush is almost a nonexistent train. There’s often just enough fabric to give you a little extra oomph in the back. Because brush trains are so...

How To: Find a Dress, Part 2
Good Monday morning! To continue my How to Find a Dress series, we’re talking necklines today.
Thanks to PreOwnedWeddingDresses.com (have you seen that site!? Take a look!) I found this lovely little chart:

How To: Find a Dress, Part 1
Today is Part 1 of my How to Find a Wedding Dress series. First up are silhouettes. Probably the first thing to figure out is what silhouette best works for you and the type of wedding you’re having. A small beach wedding might not be the best place for a big poufy ball gown, while a ballroom wedding practically begs for a dramatic dress. But like many rules, the rules are made to broken. If you...

Quotes, Readings and Vows: "The History of Love"
This little passage from Nicole Krauss’s novel “The History of Love”. It’s so sweet and romantic; I swoon EVERY time.
“For her I changed pebbles into diamonds, shoes into mirrors, I changed glass into water, I gave her wings and pulled birds from her ears and in her pockets she found the feathers, I asked a pear to become a pineapple, a pineapple to become a...

A Wink (Simple Tip)
I just saw this on Weddingbee! It’s a chart Miss Brooch found that helps you decide if people should be on the guest list. So handy and cool!!! As many of you know it’s hard to cut down a guest list, but it’s one of the quickest ways to keep your budget in check.

Inspired by: My Favorite London Bar
Lest you think I’m a total alcoholic, I promise I didn’t spend all my time abroad in a bar. Just most of my night time. Kidding! But we did become regulars at one specific bar called B@1. They have a really cool drinks menu if you’re looking for signature drinks (A few of my favorites off the top of my head: Candy Pants, Mango Collins, Irish Disco Biscuit, and Frozen Strawberry...

Venue: Lowndes Grove-Charleston, SC
I had to kick off my venue posts with a favorite of mine. The only surviving plantation on the Charleston peninsula, Lowndes Grove has STUNNING views of the Ashley River that allow for sunsets that you would never believe. Rather than go on and on about the plantation, I’ll just have to show you pictures:

Quotes, Readings, and Vows: "I'll Be There For...
One of my favorite things to add to my always growing wedding inspiration folder are quotes, readings and vows. That is, in fact, the name of the file on my hard drive. Without further ado, here is one of my very very very favorites.
“I’ll Be There For You” by Louise Cuddon:
I’ll be there, my darling, through thick and through thin When your mind’s in a mess and your head’s in a spin When your...

A Wink (Simple Tip)
Instead of buying favors that only half your guests take home and instead of wasting cake because people are too busy drinking/talking/dancing (there are worse problems!), provide to-go slices of cake in boxes with a pretty label (tying in your colors, names, etc). Have little cartons of milk on hand, and you’re good to go!
